It could happen here

Friend -

Did you see the news? New York just became the first state to ban gas stoves. Here's how CNN reported it:

Facing mounting pressure from environmental advocates and climate-minded voters, Gov. Kathy Hochul and Democratic lawmakers, who control the New York Senate and Assembly, approved the new $229 billion state budget containing the provision late Tuesday night. The law bans gas-powered stoves, furnaces and propane heating and effectively encourages the use of climate-friendly appliances such as heat pumps and induction stoves in most new residential buildings across the state.

Folks, this is what happens in states run by Democrat legislatures. It doesn't matter that just a couple months ago, the media was acting like gas-stove bans were just a figment of our imagination. Democrats really are coming for our gas stoves. And guess what? It can happen in Virginia, where the state Senate is currently controlled by Democrats.

My opponent, Democrat Senator Monty Mason, voted for Virginia's own Green New Deal in 2021. He also voted to double the state's gas tax, making it jump in some parts of the state from 16 cents to 34 cents a gallon. What's even worse is that when gas prices were skyrocketing last year in the Joe Biden economy, Senate Democrats blocked the governor's plan to temporarily suspend the gas tax and give Virgnians a break at the pump.

It makes you wonder - whose side are these Democrats on? The side of hardworking Virginians who need affordable, reliable energy and fuel? Or the side of progressive climate activists?

If elected, I'll do everything I can to keep Virginia from becoming the next New York.
