Adult Men's and Coed Softball registration begins Feb. 6

Adult Men's and Coed Softball Program registration will begin for returning teams on Monday, Feb. 6 at 8:15 a.m. New teams may begin registering on Monday, Feb. 13 at 8:15 a.m. 

All registration will end on Friday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. Registration may close prior to Feb. 24 if a league limit is reached. 

Leagues will consist of Men's East, Men's West, Co-ed Church and Co-ed Industrial. The Men's West Division will play double header games on Monday evenings. The Men's East Division will play double header games Tuesday evenings. Co-ed Church and Industrial Divisions will play double header games Friday evenings. 

Adult Spring 2012 league fees are $450 per team. Registration is taken in person only at the Parks & Recreation Office, 100 County Drive, just off Goodwin Neck Road in the Grafton area. This program is open to residents and non-residents. Interested individuals not affiliated with a team can be placed on the "pool list." Spring Youth Soccer registration begins Feb. 6

York County Parks & Recreation will accept registration for Spring Youth Soccer from Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, through Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, on weekdays from 8:15 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Parks and Recreation Building, located at 100 County Drive, just off Goodwin Neck Road in the Grafton area. 

Spring Soccer Brochures will be available in the public schools, the public libraries, the York County website and the Parks & Recreation office. 

Registration will also be taken at the Tabb Library on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. The fee is $35 for the first child and $30 for each additional child per family. 

Leagues include coed and girls from grades Kindergarten through 12th. League play begins on Saturday, March 17, 2012. For additional information, please call York County Parks & Recreation at 890-3500 or visit our website at www.yorkcounty.gov/parksandrec.

Monday, January 30th thru Friday, February 3rd is the last week for unlimited, clear bags of leaves to be picked up for both the southern and northern zones. Please have your clear bags at the curb by 7am on Monday, January 30th to ensure collection. Area's may be lighter than normal, therefore trucks may be thru earlier in the week.

After these dates citizens may schedule a yard debris pickup for a fee or may bring their yard debris to the VPPSA Compost Facility. Please call the Waste Management Center at 890-3780 for addtional information.

HB 878 will be voted on Wednesday February 1st. The bill has been amended to make it a positive bill for car hobbyists. Historic Triangle Joint Comprehensive Plan Review Community Forums

The City of Williamsburg, James City County, and York County are simultaneously
reviewing their comprehensive plans – the long-range plan for the locality's physical
development. Topics include land use, transportation, and other Historic Triangle
regional issues.
Four community forums will be held with each meeting focused on a specific
geographic area as well as the Historic Triangle as a whole. All meetings are 7-9 p.m.:
1. Riverside/Busch/Marquis area
Thursday, February 2, Magruder Elementary Cafetorium, 700 Penniman Rd.
2. Lightfoot/Pottery area
Thursday, February 23, Warhill High Auditorium, 4615 Opportunity Way
3. Northeast Triangle and surrounding area
Monday, February 27, Williamsburg Community Bldg., 401 N. Boundary St.
4. Yorktown/Lower York
Thursday, March 15, Tabb Library Meeting Room, 100 Long Green Blvd.
Each forum will include an informational overview and a public input session seeking
feedback on specific focus areas and the overall Historic Triangle.
