Virginia War Museum to Commemorate American Entry in WWI

United States Entered First World War April 6, 1917


The Virginia War Museum is holding a commemoration of the centennial of American Entry in the First World War at 12 p.m., Thursday April 6. The highlight of the commemoration is the unveiling of the display Old Dominion, Over There. This new exhibit honors Virginia’s military units that served in the war. City to Hold Healthy Youth Day & Summer Camp Expo at Patrick Henry Mall


Healthy Youth Day & Summer Camp Expo is back, next Saturday, April 8, from 1- 5 p.m. at Patrick Henry Mall. The event, put on by the Newport News Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, promotes healthy living for youth and families while showcasing the varied summer recreation opportunities for youth in Newport News and surrounding areas.

Garden Plots Available in the Newport News Community Garden


The City of Newport News community garden has open plots available for Newport News residents. These plots are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply for a garden plot, read the Community Garden Rules and complete the Community Garden Application. There is a $30 fee to reserve a garden plot for the season and plots are approximately 18 by 40 feet in size. View a diagram of the garden plot layout and parking area online.
