Another Update on Government Funding

Friend,I wanted to follow up with you regarding last week's update on government funding. As you know, I've been long-frustrated that Congress continues to budget by crisis. It shouldn't be this difficult or take this long to fund the government so that it operates effectively for the American people.This week, I'm pleased to say that the House passed six of the 12 full-year appropriations bills that made targeted cuts and maintained conservative policies that Democrats wanted to remove. By cutting wasteful government programs, we are saving taxpayers more than $200 billion over the next decade.These bills prevent President Biden's Justice Department from targeting concerned parents, block the Biden administration from stripping veterans of their Second Amendment rights, cut the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, the Environmental Protection Agency, and impose deep cuts to the FBI, which under President Biden has weaponized in unprecedented ways against his political opponents.This legislation honors our commitment to our veterans, strengthens our energy security, holds federal agencies accountable, supports our farmers and ranchers, and makes our transportation systems safer.  When House Republicans took back the majority in 2022, we promised to restore fiscal responsibility to Washington, deliver conservative legislative victories, support our veterans, and end President Biden's woke agenda. That is precisely what these Fiscal Year 2024 funding bills accomplish. To ensure Congress doesn't continue budgeting by crisis, I've introduced the following legislation:My No Budget, No Pay Act would withhold Members' pay until a budget is passed. My Stay on Schedule (S.O.S.) Resolution would prevent Congress from adjourning for August recess until all 12 appropriations bills are passed. And my Inaction Has Consequences Act would withhold the salaries of Members of Congress if we do not pass the 12 regular appropriation bills in a timely manner. Sincerely, P.S.
