York County Day of Caring effort will beautify Lackey community

August 20, 2012

FOR RELEASE AT WILL

York County and the Lackey Community Collaboration Taskforce is partnering with United Way of the Virginia Peninsula to promote volunteerism in the county through the United Way's annual Day of Caring.
The Day of Caring is an opportunity for employees in the workplace to volunteer for a single day to work on local community projects. This year, volunteers will work in Lackey to help beautify the community by removing debris and brush, mowing lawns, trimming hedges, performing minor porch repairs, and creating tire gardens from recycled tires to place at the homes of residents at their request.
Approximately 40 volunteers from over 10 businesses and agencies throughout the Peninsula have registered to participate. The United Way annual Day of Caring will take place on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012. For more information about this effort, please contact Community Services at 890-3880.
