My name is Shirley Charles, and I running for the York County Republican Committee Chair. I am a wife, a mother, and a military spouse who comes to you with unwavering conviction for conservative values, a love of politics, and a deep appreciation of our laws and its structure that make our beautiful Commonwealth of Virginia and Nation, outstanding! I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Management from the University of Maryland, University College. Additionally, I have taken intensive coursework in the fields of International and Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma.
Leadership: I have been a leader in many different types of organizations including the following:
v 1st Vice President of York Republican Women’s Club 2012-2013
v Mentor and spouse coordinator for thousands of military spouses 2003 - Present
v Cofounder and President of the Senior Parent's Association 2010 -2011
v Wiesbaden High School Advisory Council Board Member for 2009 -2011
Experience: My experience in politics is varied.
v Advocate for justice in promoting personal liberties, military spouse advocacy in the Department of Defense, and fighting unfair budgeting practices by Hawaii’s Department of Education for schools
v Spent numerous hours making campaign and recruitment calls, knocking on doors, and working at the polls during the 2012 & 2013 election cycle.
v Graduated from the Jennifer Byler Institute, which is a prestigious organization that provides quality training to prepare and educate Republican Women for leadership roles in political offices.
3- Point Strategy: When I have the honor of serving you as Chair of the YCRC, I will propose a 3-Point Strategy.
v Create and develop a strategic plan that aligns itself with Virginia Republican Creed and YCRC mission statement.
v Increase our membership to100 members who are willing to dedicate their time and efforts to promote conservative principles while securing the victory of Republican candidates.
v Activate our Public Relations Committee, which will create an environment where our ideals and values flourish, so strong, principled Republican candidates can easily win.
Over the next month, I am looking forward to sharing my vision with you as well as listening to your concerns and ideas on the direction that we need take over the next two years.
