View in browser  |  Get our newsletters Good Morning, Pennsylvania FRIDAY, AUG. 4, 2023 • TODAY'S WEATHER Limiting screen time Presumably, many parents keep track of the amount of time kids spend on their phones, tablets, screens in general.   In China, however, there's a proposal to regulate that time by law.   According to the Associated Press, China's Internet watchdog says that minors wouldn't be allowed to use the Internet on mobile devices at all from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. In the daytime, kids ages 16-18 would get two hours of Internet time a day; ages 8-15, one hour; under 8 would get 40 minutes.   Exemptions would be allowed for apps deemed suitable for the physical and mental development of children.   How would your kids react? Police sent Reiley, a central Pa. native living in Oregon, back home. Her family is still looking for her.   Winter prediction: The middle of summer might not be the time most of us are thinking about winter, but the Farmer's Almanac is. It predicts central Pa. will have a cold winter with lots of rain, sleet and snowstorms.   Best from the west: When former NFL cornerback Darrelle Revis is inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame tomorrow, a small city in western Pa. will gain some bragging rights. It'll have the high school that produced the most players in the Hall of Fame.   Fish kill: Anglers who catch northern snakeheads in the state should report and dispose of the invasive, predatory fish, the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission says. Read more Food More cookies: Crumbl Cookies plans to open its second central Pa. store, this one in Dauphin County. An opening date hasn't been announced.   Market expansion: From its start 20 years ago in a tent, a Cumberland County farm stand has grown. Basehore Farm Market has expanded into a landmark barn on Creekview Road in Hampden Township.   Dairy-free treat: Jak Frost Frozen Desserts, an ice cream shop in Middletown, has a treat that sounds impossible: dairy-free soft serve that tastes at least as good as "regular" ice cream. It's new on our Best Eats list. Read more Politics Budget spending: With Gov. Josh Shapiro's signature yesterday on a delayed $45.5 billion budget bill, most state spending is in the clear and will be distributed as normal. However, a few things will need legislation before money can be released. Read more Advertisement Business Store renovations: A Dollar General store in Dauphin County is getting a facelift and will be closed for about a week.   Putting on the brakes: Trucking company Yellow Corp. has shut down operations and is headed for bankruptcy, according to the Teamsters.   Layoffs expected: A contract has ended for a logistics company at a York County facility, which could mean the end of jobs for more than 200 people.
