Going green to the great beyond
|
"For dust you are and to dust you will return," the Bible says. Some people in central Pa. are planning that return to dust, to the Earth, with an enviromentally friendly burial. Our Capitol intern DaniRae Renno described green funerals: The deceased is placed in a biodegradable coffin or shroud and placed in the ground, with no concrete vault. Paxtang Cemetery was the first green burial ground in central Pennsylvania. "We thought do you want to be in a box in a concrete vault for eternity or do you want to naturally decompose back in the environment?" a Lancaster man explained. "That was an easy choice." Now, let's take a look at this morning's headlines. |
