Senior Center of York to celebrate 21st anniversary with an Open House

     The Senior Center of York will celebrate its 21st anniversary on Friday, November 16, with an Open House from 1 to 3 p.m.  A short program will be presented at 1 p.m. followed by table exhibits, displays, and demonstrations.  The public is cordially invited to come and "experience" the programs, activities, and camaraderie of the Center.  Light refreshments will also be served.
     The Center was established in 1991 to serve as a community meeting place for senior citizens aged 55 and up to gather together and participate in various programs and activities.  The Center began through the vision and efforts of many dedicated senior volunteers and through the vision and efforts of many dedicated senior volunteers and through the support of the York County Board of Supervisors.  Over the years the Center has also received the support of local businesses and civic groups.  Due to continued growth, the Center's current facility is now the third site it has occupied.  It is now housed in four conjoined storefrnts located in the Washington Square Shopping Center at 5314 George Washington Memorial Highway.
     The Senior Center of York is "home away from home" for its many patrons who enjoy an array of educational, cultural exercise, health and art programs.  Among the many activities held at the center are computer classes, cultural days, line dancing, Body Recall exercise classes, health days, crafts, art classes, card and bingo games, scrapbooking, movies, a dining club, and AARP Driver Safety Program classes.
