FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Due to the recent increase in mosquito populations in the area, York County has contracted to conduct an aerial mosquito spray scheduled for tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 14) at 8 p.m.
Several areas in the lower part of the county will be sprayed in association with this effort, mainly from Goodwin Neck south down to the Calthrop Neck area.
The pesticide that will used is Dibrom, and is sprayed at 1/2 an ounce per acre, which is just half of the EPA allowable spray rate. Information announcing the aerial spray will be on Mosquito Control's hotline at 890-3790 and posted at www.yorkcounty.gov/mosquitocontrol.
Staff is currently working to inform all bee keepers in the affected area of the scheduled spray. For more information, or for questions, please call Mosquito Control at 890-3790.
