Where's the York County employee pay raise? - dailypress.com

Dear Members of the York County Board of Supervisors,

I am not sure if you had a chance yet to read this outstanding op-ed written by Jim Haas. If not, I have provided a link here for you.

As a taxpayer who has seen a reduction in my net income these past two years due to a pay freeze and increase contributions toward the ever rising costs for my family health insurance, I am hoping that you can provide a reply to the concerns that you are still growing instead of contracting the size and scope of our county government and in fact looking to impose yet another hurtful tax increase on us citizens.

I was at the York County Republican Committee (YCRC) meeting this past week, where you might recall that it voted in favor of a formal resolution be read to you all advising/ requesting you to curtail your spending of our tax dollars. The resolution will be presented and read to you by the YCRC chairman or hopefully by a proxy designated by her at an upcoming meeting.

Here is the resolution as approved by the Committee:

"Whereas, The United States is currently experiencing the worst economic climate since World War II;

Whereas, Taxes on all working Americans have increased as of January 1, 2013;

Whereas, Taxes and economic drag will continue to increase on all Americans due to the impending implementation of The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (commonly known as Obabamacare);

Whereas, the York County Board of Supervisors raised the real estate tax rate on the citizens by 12.77% last year;

Whereas, Government in York County has continued to expand despite the current fiscal climate, as evidenced by the current number of County employees, which is the highest on York County's history;

Whereas, Government spending at all levels continues to increase, and is the primary source of rising government debt; and

Whereas, Historically tax increases have proven to further slow economic activity, now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the York County Republican Committee requests the York County Board of Supervisors make whatever spending cuts are needed to prevent further tax increases over the next year."

Thanks,
