Walkers and joggers could be seen this week swatting the winged menaces, which are prone to land on heads and shoulders. The bugs also could be seen crawling on light posts and signs.   Is it early in the year for the river to be this buggy ? Well, John asked a Lower Susquehanna riverkeeper, who said all it takes is a slight uptick in river temperature to activate the bug hatching. They're probably caddis flies and not dangerous.   "There could have been a fluctuation in the river temp that caused them to make a move," he said of the bugs. "We had a couple of days in the 60s. We've been in the 40s here recently. That could have something to do with it."   So if you're feeling pestered in Harrisburg, blame Mother Nature. The organization that runs the lessons said it intended to bow out following a meeting with a parent, who said she was just asking for curriculum details. See also: Parents ask questions about school security at CV meeting   Mail-in ballot case: A federal appeals court must decide if Pennsylvania voters need to put accurate handwritten dates on the outside envelopes of their mail-in ballots for the votes to count. The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals held arguments in Philadelphia yesterday over a district judge's ruling in November that those ballots can be counted if otherwise OK.   Risks of illness, vaccine: People who received certain vaccines for COVID-19 were more likely to come down with heart-related inflammations, according to a study involving 99 million people who vaccines. However, their chances of suffering from issues, including death, were much higher if they'd contacted coronavirus itself, experts said.   Dinner-table shooting: A 47-year-old York County man fatally shot his brother-in-law and injured his sister as they ate at the family dinner table because he thought they were trying to poison his food and steal his money, police wrote in court documents. Companies see the region as a good test market, with a booming population, available real estate and eager diners.   Booze for sale: The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board is holding a major clearance sale. The LCB has slashed prices on more than 500 products, including wines and spirits available in stores and online.   Restaurant closes: Hoss's Steak and Sea House in Swatara Township off Route 322 has closed. The building is under contract to be sold, and Wawa's working on plans to take the spot. Read more Entertainment High school musicals: High school musical season is under way in central Pa. schools. It includes classics like "Pippin" to more modern shows like "Bring It On." We have a list of shows across central Pa., along with information on tickets and times.   Concerts coming: These musicians have announced shows this year in Pennsylvania: The Avett Brothers; Straight No Chaser; Trace Adkins; and Kenny G.   Taking care of a Beach Boy: The family of Beach Boys frontman, Brian Wilson, filed for conservatorship because he is battling a "major neurocognitive disorder (such as dementia)." After the recent death of Wilson's wife, family representatives will serve as Brian's co-conservators. Principe started his career in broadcasting after graduating from Ithaca College in 1976.
