Friend -- It's hard to believe that some members of Congress would sabotage our economy if they don't get their way -- but here we are. The House already took one big step closer to a government shutdown by passing a measure that defunds Obamacare, letting an extreme group take control of the process. Congress has seven days to pass a budget -- OFA is going to spend each and every one of them reminding some lawmakers why they were sent to Washington: to represent us, not to play political games. This Wednesday, OFA supporters will be meeting in Yorktown to urge Congress to step back from the ledge and pass a smart budget -- will you be able to join? Yes, I'm in. Not this time, but I'll make a donation to help keep the pressure on John Boehner. Here are the details: What: Budget shutdown Day of Action event in Yorktown Where: 401 Main Street Yorktown, VA 23690 When: Wednesday, September 25th 2:00 pm This group of House Republicans has a choice: They can do the right thing for their constituents and our economy and pass a smart budget, or they can let an extreme group drive us into a shutdown. If that happens, it could disrupt several services Americans count on -- from new Social Security and veterans benefits to loans for students and small businesses. This Wednesday, we'll be letting our allies know that we've got their backs as they face down this reckless plan. And we'll be showing the members of Congress who are letting this happen know exactly what we think of it. RSVP for Wednesday's event right now, and remind Congress they answer to no one but you: http://my.barackobama.com/Attend-Budget-Day-of-Action Thanks, Nico Nico Probst Director of Special Projects Organizing for Action ---------------- The other side will spend millions to maintain the status quo. We're fighting for change -- chip in $5 or more to support OFA today. | |
