As we approach the 236th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, perchance we should reflect upon the most significant paragraph, the second. Those who care about their country know how it begins.
"We hold these truths to be self- evident, that all men are created equal, and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness –"
This is not the same principle as articulated in the 1st Amendment Congressional probation regarding the establishment or exercising of a religion.
Men pledged "our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." to this fundamental principle in the character of the government and nation they were establishing. How do we do less today without striking at the heart of the nation?
If, we as a people succumb to the concepts put forth by those who do not hold belief in God and those who hold diversity over the Christian founding principles of the nation, we must also accept the tyranny of man.
We were founded as a Christian nation. Our Declaration of Independence cannot be more clear. If we today accept the premise that we are no longer a Christian nation, how do we assert claim to "certain unalienable rights"?
