Dear Robert, Having been on the front lines as a grassroots conservative activist in Virginia politics over the last twenty years, I can tell you that this year's candidates for office are of the highest quality I have ever seen. With less than one week to go until the convention, I would like to share with you my picks for Attorney General and Lieutenant Governor and why. Since being elected in 2007, I have been a part of some incredible accomplishments and moments in Richmond. Mark Obenshain and Scott Lingamfelter have been at the front of these conservative victories, leading the charge and fight to preserve our liberties and freedoms. Both of these men have leadership and legislative experience, two very important elements when it comes to governance in Virginia. Both of them have proven to be trustworthy, principled and true conservatives that I have never seen waiver on issues of importance to me, such as: limited government; right to life; fiscal responsibility and constitutional freedoms. Scott Lingamfelter is a natural born leader, having served in the General Assembly for 12 years he has been the go to guy when it comes to protecting out 2nd Amendment rights. Scott spent considerable time protecting all of our God-given rights during a career in the Army that spanned 28 years! As a matter of fact, former Congressmen Colonel Allen West said, "I would have followed that man to the ends of the earth." Allen West served under Scott's command and has personally endorsed him! I've known Scott for 10 years and have served in the House of Delegates with him for 6 years. He sits behind me and I know that he always "has my back." In the "Amen Corner" of the chamber where he and I sit we call him "The Colonel." He is a bulldog and I literally can see Scott Lingamfelter presiding over the Senate more than any other candidate for Lieutenant Governor. Last November, 75% of Virginians agreed with Mark Obenshain that property rights are worth amending our Constitution for. It was his leadership and persistence over many years that made this amendment a reality. Also this past session, Mark fought to preserve the integrity of our elections by patroning the first ever successful Photo ID legislation. He ensured the protection of our 2nd Amendment with his successful Concealed Carry Permit Confidentiality bill. Mark's leadership spans farther than just the Senate chamber. In his 26 years of practicing law, Mark has managed two of the leading law firms in the state, one of which he founded and still oversees today. Our Attorney General oversees 265 attorneys, plus countless employees, and must decide which cases to pursue, making this experience in the private sector invaluable. On top of that, Mark has worked on over 100 constitutional cases, during a time when our constitution is constantly under scrutiny and attack; I want someone with the knowledge and expertise to effectively defend this document which has made our nation the envy of the world. Please join with me in support of both Scott Lingamfelter for Lieutenant Governor and Mark Obenshain for Attorney General. With your support, the "Cucinelli-Lingamfelter-Obenshain" ticket will be sure to paint Virginia "RED" in November!!! I hope to see many of you at the convention! All the best, Brenda Pogge Member of the Virginia House of Delegates, 96th District |
