Riverwalk Landing
The 7th Annual Yorktown Market Days season kicks off with more than 35 local farmers and producers, over 20 local artist and vendors throughout the season with a variety of local favorites. The 3rd Annual Fitness market is designed to help residents understand the resources available in the area to aid in living a healthy lifestyle. Yorktown Battlefield
Tactical demonstrations, encampments and a Confederate field hospital interpret the role Yorktown played during the Peninsula Campaign. The Yorktown Middle Passage Committee, in cooperation with the National Park Service and the County of York, cordially invites you to attend a Remembrance Ceremony and Wayside Dedication. The ceremony will include: cleansing and preparation of the ground by representatives of the Upper Mattaponi Indian Tribe; history of the Middle Passage and Yorktown's role by African American historian Russell B. Hopson; invocations by local clergy; libation and drumming, led by Dr. P.B. Welbeck; and, unveiling of the wayside sign by National Park Superintendent Dan Smith. The event will honor the 2,000,000 Africans who died in the Middle Passage and the 500,000 enslaved survivors and their descendents who helped build this nation. Historic Grace Church, Yorktown will hold its annual Memorial Day Ceremony at 10 am Monday 27 May 2013 in the Church Cemetery rain or shine. The ceremony will honor the over 65 Veterans (Revolutionary War, Civil War, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam) buried in the Cemetery as well as all those who have served in the Armed Services of the United States. After a brief ceremony, all participants will take place in replacing the flags on each grave "with honors." All are welcome.
