Storm Update - Oct. 29; county offices/libraries closing at 4

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
 
     All York County government offices and libraries are closing at 4 p.m. today, Monday, October 29, 2012. Officials will continue to monitor conditions overnight and decisions regarding office hours for Tuesday, October 30, 2012, will be made accordingly.
     At this time, the county has received no reports of damage to personal property as a result of Hurricane Sandy. 
     York County Emergency Management continues its communications with the National Weather Service – Wakefield and Virginia Department of Emergency Management, as well as associated agencies and neighboring jurisdictions.
     The Grafton School Complex shelter, opened and operated jointly with the City of Poquoson, was closed at 10 a.m. this morning. The county does not anticipate re-opening the shelter at this time.
     Cheadle Loop Road in York County has been closed to through traffic because of a drainage issue. However, residents are able to reach their homes through additional access roads within the neighborhood. Currently, that is the only known York County road that is closed to through traffic.
     York County's curbside recycling collection was canceled today, but will resume its regular schedule tomorrow.
     The Waste Management Center closed at 2 p.m. today but will reopen tomorrow morning with hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for all operations with the exception of the VPPSA Compost Facility that will operate from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
