Comprehensive Plan Public Meetings; Publishing Workshops at Library

York County to hold two Comprehensive Plan public input meetings

May 23, 2012

FOR RELEASE AT WILL

York County has scheduled two public meetings to discuss and receive input from residents on the county's Comprehensive Plan.
The Comprehensive Plan serves as the long-range plan for the physical development of the county. The Code of Virginia requires that comprehensive plans be reviewed periodically, and York County's plan was last updated by the Board of Supervisors in December 2005.
The public meetings will be an opportunity for York County citizens to learn about the current plan and offer their ideas and suggestions for the update. Each meeting will include an informational presentation and an opportunity for citizens to review planning maps and talk one-on-one with Planning Commission members and staff about York County planning issues such as land use, housing, transportation, community facilities, economic development, historic resources, and the environment. Both meetings will run from 7 to 9 p.m., with the presentation taking place around 7:15 p.m.. Dates and locations are below:

·         Thursday, May 31
York High School Media Center
9300 George Washington Memorial Highway, Yorktown

·         Wednesday, June 6
Waller Mill Elementary School Cafeteria
314 Waller Mill Road, Williamsburg
